Fire Aware CEO Gavin Skelly said: \u201cOur members tell us that when they work closely together the solutions are easier to find and everyone benefits. We are all in this together. At Fire Aware, we have a community of companies large and small who often collaborate together to find the solution to a problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe all believe in fulfilling our duty of care and working closely with partners who are like-minded will help everyone to achieve that. This is a vocation for life, not a job.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe Fire Aware community \u2013 and the wider fire safety industry \u2013 are all of the same mind. We cannot compromise when it comes to safeguarding the safety of people moving about in our buildings. That cuts cross all sectors and applies to a multitude of responsible people who may or may not be directly involved in fire safety but want to uphold their duty of care. It\u2019s not just about the specialists. It\u2019s about the entire supply chain.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Fire Aware focuses on the moral responsibility of all those working in the fire safety supply chain including designers, developers, asset owners, managers and other stakeholders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It aims to change the culture of the built environment sector by introducing a moral code of conduct via a series of charters designed to influence how member companies behave in upholding their duty of care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dame Judith Hackitt \u2013 who led the Grenfell Inquiry \u2013 has called for cultural change through moral and ethical behaviours, recently supported by the new independent Building Safety Regulator which has been created to \u2018promote competence and higher standards.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sectors which are particularly vulnerable to fire risk include the hospitality sector \u2013 with the many bars, restaurants and hotels which are trusted to protect their customers – and healthcare which has to protect many vulnerable and elderly people including those who cannot look after themselves in the event of a real fire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
