Charge point operator (CPO) Believ is rolling out its electric vehicle (EV) charging network across Telford & Wrekin Council, with 200 new charge points installed across 35 key public car parks. The project has been driven by the council\u2019s sustainability strategy to decarbonise transport and support local residents in the transition to electric mobility. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Charge points are now live at\u00a0a number of\u00a0locations across the borough, including Wrekin Road car park, where 10 charge points have been installed. These include a mix of\u00a0Standard Plus chargers\u00a0for longer stays and overnight charging, and\u00a0Rapid chargers for shorter visits such as\u00a0for\u00a0shopping,\u00a0dining\u00a0and exploring the local area. The network will expand to include a total of 124 charge points funded through the On-Street Residential Charge\u00a0point\u00a0Scheme (ORCS) with an\u00a0additional\u00a076 chargers fully funded by\u00a0Believ. This\u00a0marks\u00a0a significant step towards meeting the growing demand for accessible EV charging solutions in the borough.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Believ will install, operate and maintain all charge points, supporting Telford & Wrekin\u2019s plans to cut emissions and boost the borough\u2019s visitor economy, particularly in popular destinations such as Ironbridge, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The collaboration between Believ and Telford & Wrekin Council goes beyond providing charging infrastructure. The project is also intended to deliver social value through a number of wider community benefit initiatives, alongside its aim of delivering cleaner air for all. Overall, the project is estimated to deliver carbon savings of more than 18,000 tons. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Councillor Carolyn Healy, Telford & Wrekin Council Cabinet Member for planning, Neighbourhoods and Sustainability\u202fsaid\u202f\u201cThis is an exciting milestone in our work to decarbonise transport and make sustainable travel more accessible to residents and visitors. Partnering with Believ and using government ORCS funding has allowed us to efficiently roll out a high-quality EV charging network for our residents, especially those that do not have on-street parking. Believ\u2019s fully funded offering means we have been able to install scalable EV charging infrastructure across the council. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Guy Bartlett, CEO of charge point operator Believ, says the operator is proud to be supporting Telford & Wrekin in its drive to create a greener, more sustainable borough: \u201cThis partnership between Believ and the council will provide much-needed charging infrastructure to help local residents transition to electric vehicles, and we\u2019re excited to see the positive impact it will have on the local economy and the environment.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
