{"id":6019,"date":"2021-07-27T17:48:55","date_gmt":"2021-07-27T16:48:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.gpsj.co.uk\/?p=6019"},"modified":"2021-07-27T17:48:55","modified_gmt":"2021-07-27T16:48:55","slug":"teacher-role-models-learning-from-inspirational-teachers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.gpsj.co.uk\/?p=6019","title":{"rendered":"Teacher role models: Learning from inspirational teachers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mark Siswick, Executive Headteacher of Chesterton Primary School, in south London, and co-founder of the Wandle Learning Trust, was honoured for services to education in the New Year\u2019s Honours list by being awarded an MBE.\u00a0\u00a0The\u00a0<a href=\"applewebdata:\/\/0D271B78-7FFA-4C61-94B2-F99745A6C507\/C:%5CUsers%5CHannah%5CAppData%5CLocal%5CMicrosoft%5CWindows%5CINetCache%5CContent.Outlook%5C47KC2BMT%5C%3chttps:%5Cwww.thenorthernecho.co.uk%5Cnews%5C18979025.headteacher-created-home-le\">Northern Echo writes<\/a>: \u201cDuring the pandemic, he helped to create a national home learning programme, filming more than 100 lessons in phonics and reading to try and stop youngsters from falling behind.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>His founding of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.wandlelearningtrust.org.uk\/\">Wandle Learning Trust<\/a>\u00a0was to him one of is most exciting achievements, and it\u2019s one for which he deserves national recognition. About a decade ago he and his colleagues worked in partnership with a local secondary school, Chestnut Grove Academy. He exclaims that together they have done some great pieces of work. Chestnut Grove became an academy around 2012, and the two schools formed a trust in 2017.
