Community event offered EV drivers complimentary charging while showcasing the borough’s growing rapid and ultra-rapid network

Believ team on hand at Tower Hamlets

Electric vehicle (EV) charge point operator (CPO) Believ marked World EV Day on the 9th September by offering free EV charging and information at Newby Place in Tower Hamlets to help showcase the benefits of transitioning to EVs. From 10am to 4pm, Believ engaged with the local community and set up beside a local charger, offering a free charging session to drivers. The Believ team were on hand to answer questions about EV charging and explain how Believ’s growing local network can support residents, commuters, taxi drivers and businesses.

Believ recently announced the first live charging locations in its partnership with Tower Hamlets Council, a fully funded rollout of more than 70 rapid and ultra-rapid chargers across 35 sites in the borough. The first 17 chargers are now live, with Newby Place among the locations supporting convenient residential charging for drivers who may not have access to off-street parking or a means to privately charge their vehicles

Tower Hamlets is a densely populated borough and a major route for traffic travelling from the northeast and east. With 93%* of homes lacking off-street parking, accessible public charging will play an important role in helping more residents make the transition to EVs.

Guy Bartlett, CEO of Believ, said World EV Day is an opportunity to show how accessible, convenient EV charging can support communities and help make cleaner air for all a reality:

“We were pleased to meet with residents and drivers at Newby Place, where we were able to answer practical questions, introduce people to the local network and celebrate the progress being made through our partnership with Tower Hamlets Council.”
